Psychiatric Report.

Charges relating to abduction and sexually aggressive behaviour.

Assessed by Dr Mark Hadfield, MB BS MRC Psych.

Background

Mrs Bosworth reports no previous psychiatric admissions to which I concur. She grew up in a loving and stable environment and has no factors in her past that would influence her behaviour. Her partner, Martin Bosworth, has also been caring and devoted husband since they married last year. They have been together since high school.

Current Mental State

It’s in my professional opinion that Mrs Bosworth expresses genuine remorse for her actions. I also haven’t seen anything in my examination to suggest the assault was premeditated. Mrs Bosworth’s memory of assaulting her pool cleaner, Carlos Gonzalez, is fragmented. She remembers a sudden desire to push him into the shallow end so she could carry out a rescue and ‘revive’ the young man. However, why she insisted on rescuing a competent swimmer in no apparent danger and administering mouth-to-mouth resuscitation for such a long time cannot be explained.

Recommendations

It is in my view that Mrs Bosworth presents a high risk to young men. And to pool cleaners in particular. Although this was an isolated incident and totally out of character, I unfortunately feel there is no alternative but to recommend a community service order in a female dominated environment. A nunnery or local girls’ school would be appropriate. At least there I can pursue my examination and hopefully discover what triggered the attack, without risk of re-offence.
